I recently bought a couple of WW 2 aircraft models. Haven't built one in years. I figured I could put everything I've learned over the years to good use. I'm sure there are scale modelers here at Dakka, so I ask this: what are the biggest and best forums out there. I've seen some that are specific to cars, armor, etc. I've also seen some that appear to have few members and little traffic. Looking for suggestions, please and thank you.

The go-to scale modeling community is the International Plastic Model Society (IPMS). Check them out here, they have a link to their forums on their main page: http://www.ipmsusa.org

There is likely a club near you too. I will be joining the wellington one next week. The IPMS club that is.
TMP is ok for that sort of thing. I have had all my questions answered there.
Good luck.

I like these sites myself:
www.scalemodeladdict.com
www.britmodeller.com
www.finescale.com
Both of these have a rather active community, especially in the aviation area.

International Scale Modeler is worth a look, as well. Plenty of aircraft, as well as armor and the odd sci-fi kit. If you follow historical modeling channels on Youtube, you've likely come across at least one of the ISM crew, before.

Thanks for all of the replies. You'd think a simple Google search would turn up a ton of forums, but there's more chaff than wheat, lol.
