I am wondering who to take to support my hybrid list with blob and vets. Both can issue two Orders and both are senior officers. Yarrick does not give up first blood very easily and he can hide in a blob, but the CCS is far more mobile in a Chimera and has far higher damage potential, but is around 35-55pts more expensive. You think Yarrick is worth it when taking 30 dudesmen in a blob and 20 Vets? Also, when taking Yarrick in a ranged blob and an Aegis Line, do you think it might be a good idea to skip the Priest so that they can go to ground for a 3+ and then get back up with an order? Yarrick pretty much nullifies morale checks anyway and the blob will only suffer in melee.

Thoughts?

I only used Yarrick in my mech vet list. Guys wearing cardboard and shooting flashlights will love not having to take moral tests vs shooting. It saved my bacon many a time in game. Knowing that unless assaulted, my guardsmen would still be standing there regardless of how many died, still pulling the triggerand ashooting away made playing objective games far easier to plan.

I like Yarick. He's pretty decent for platoons.

CCS is simply another squad with it's own goods and bads. On one hand, they can operate independently and can do some nice damage with special weapons but on the other hand, they're a juicy (and often easy) target to pick apart.
CCS can get warlord traits that are not negated by priests and comissars everywhere. Yarick's one is not all that bad, however + he's a lord comissar, so everything within 6" has ld10 for orders.
Yarick might shoot the hell out of a primaris psycher.
CCS is dead the moment something touches it in mellee. Yarick + platoon will likely chop through any mellee foe.
CCS can go gunlining with HWT and/or bombardment, can get another psycher in there, master of the fleet, which might do something for it's points eventually.

Up to you to decide which advantages are better for your particular playstyle.

I would go for Yarrick. His rules alone make him so worth it.

I guess it could also depend on the army you are facing. If your opponent is bringing big nasty characters then Yarrick is a good HQ to take on challenges thanks to him being eternal warrior, 4+ invun save, decent amount of wounds, power Klaw to cut through all armour saves and his ability to get back up from the dead. He also has an extra shooting attack thanks to his baleful eye (ap3 laser shot). I've had him hold up both a Daemon Prince and a Bloodthirster before to prevent my guardsmen getting wiped out. He is one tough cookie.
