Putting aside that it is finecast (which I can live with), is the Banner Bearer (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Dark-Angels-Banner-Bearer) worth having over the Standard Bearer that comes with the Space Marine Command Squad (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Space-Marine-Command-Squad)? I know that all Dark Angels models in the same unit as the Chapter Banner Bearer get +1 Attack while the Banner Bearer is alive, is it worth it to put him in a squad versus a Standard Bearer which has all the same special rules except the +1 Attack? Also, what is the Banner Bearer's point cost? Is it the same as a standard Tactical Marine equipped with a Company Banner?

Thanks in advance

There is no requirement to use the DA-specific banner bearer in order to use the Chapter Banner rules. You could use that model, or the one from the command squad, or do as I'm doing and use the plastic standard + arm from the command squad and a robed body from the DA veterans box set.

The main reason I want to use the DA specific Banner Bearer is because the banner he holds is much more detailed than the ones that come with Standard Bearers. And, I was hoping to use the Banner Bearer to really show off my Dark Angels on Armies On Parade. But, I wanted to find out if he was going to be of any real use other than for show. I don't mind putting the money into the figure if it's useful in an actual game. But, if the Chapter Banner special rules don't really have a good ROI or if the Banner Bearer can't fire a Bolter while holding the Chapter Banner, then I'll probably leave him out.

Is the Chapter Banner worth it? Can the Banner Bearer fire a Bolter while holding the Banner?

Thanks

Both banner are viable and good. Also, any models you pick can actually be use as any type of banner. If you feel that the Banner Bearer has a more detailed Banner, well go with it man!

The banner does not interfere with the weapons of the model at all. Only some of the more obscure items like Signums and Auspexes do that and if they do it specifically states so.
Think of it that way, the banner bearer rams the banner into the ground before he lays his bolter on or he uses only one hand to fire as he is a grizzled veteran.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I'd add that the banner bearer I got was typical finecast. Be prepared to make some small repairs to get that detail. Nothing too major though.

Definitely add a 32mm base (preferably weighted) to him if you want him to stand on the slightest slope

if you want his model you can just buy the chapter banner arm bits on ebay and then get an old metal brother belthor, this solves the issue of his weight not being distrubted properly and him falling over all the time thanks to his rampant wobbly model syndrome.
