Hi everyone !

I'll be attending a tournament in a couple of weeks and will be using a different kind of army to what I'm used to.
No big gunz, no lootaz, no grotz, ...

In general, I don't tend to look at opponent's armies, since I'm an irregular player at best - so most of the sneaky, devious tactics would be wasted on me.

For those of you who want to know : so far 2 Tau, 1 Dark Eldar, 1 Eldar, 2 Necron and 1 Imperial Fist player.
FW and most detachments / formations are allowed. All missions include Maelstrom-objectives, along with other scenario-based objectives.

Advice wanted concerning "what to look out for", ...

Detachment 1 - Standard CAD, Codex Orks, Faction Orks

> HQ : Warboss Mega Armour, Bosspole, Lucky Stikk

> E1 : 8 Tankbustas, Rokkettrukk (aka truck with a rocket launcher)
> E2 : 9 Tankbustas, Rokkettrukk

> T1 : 10 Boyz, Shootaz, Rocket, RokketTrukk
> T2 : 10 Boyz, Shootaz, Rocket, RokketTrukk

> FA1 : Deffkopta, Rokkets
> FA2 : Deffkopta, Rokkets
> FA3 : Deffkopta, Rokkets

Detachment 2 - Ork Horde Detachment, Codex orks, Faction Orks

> HQ1 - Warlord : Zadsnark Da Rippa
> HQ2 : Painboy, Bike, grot orderly

> E1 : 3 Meganobz, Kombi-skorcha, Rokkettrukk
> E2 : 3 Meganobz, Kombi-skorcha, Rokkettrukk
> E3 : 3 Meganobz, Kombi-skorcha, Rokkettrukk

> T1 : 7 Warbikes, Nob, Powerklaw
> T2 : 7 Warbikes, Nob, Big Choppa
> T3 : 7 Warbikes, Nob, Big Choppa

wow. That's just a whole lot of bodies on the field. It looks like you won't likely be facing much TEQ so your lack of AP2 is really no big deal. You won't have TOO much probelm with eldar if they're D-spamming since you have so much target saturation. Scatterbikes might give you a bit of trouble if they can pop open your trukks and kill your tankbustaz/shootaz. But he's a fool if he does that, and doesn't instead kill the trukks full of meganobz rollin up at him lol. Looks like you won't have to deal with a whole lot of AV13+ either so your tankbustaz should do fine at glancing vehicles into oblivion, along with just general rocket spam you have.

The space marine player using TFCs might give you trouble. Those things are nasty against hordes and can glance trukks to death pretty good even. With this amount of models you're gonna be clumped probably too. Try and spread out if he has any blast weapons at all really. Might wanna try and make room for the warboss to get a power klaw ust cuz str10 is alwaus good, although I assume he's going with the 8xtankbustaz so he's less likely to need it. He'll make a good meat shield for them that way, at little cost. In general anything spamming AP4 will be your bane. Missilesides/missile crisis/dakkariptide will mess your day up. 'Sides and riptide especially since you lack AP2, get dem meganobz in their face ASAP. Warp spiders from Eldar will be scary with your low Init. You don't have ANY skyfire so you'll have to rely on snapshot rockets to take down flyers, kind of a shame, but you do have a ton of missiles. So Necron flying circus will be scary too, and the eldar anti-ground flyer. Stormtalons will wreck your face as well, although they'll be a bit easier to focus fire with AV11. Try and stomp anything that will fire lots of mid-str shots as well. Your truks fear fire warriors, marines, stealthsuits, scatterbkes, etc.

Thanks for the info, Nalydyn.
Sure helps a lot.

I took a lot of units (with grotz I could have taken more), since there are a LOT of objectives in play.
The first scenario alone contains 11 objectives (with different values), without taking into account stuff as Linebreaker, etc.

I do dread flyers, but the last games in this tournament circuit, I only encountered 1 lone flyer.
May have given me in a false sense of security vs flyers. Will see.

Was going to take a third unit of tankbustaz, instead of one of the units of meganobz,
but can't get them painted in time.

All in all, it's a good way of learning how to play more aggressively ...

I love this list I also play orks and we rely on our heavy supports far too much this is an awesome way to change things up. This is a nasty fast paced list and it'll make your oponent think about what to shoot. I agree with the above state fire warriors marines and str 4 will ruin your day. Also as stated above get in that riptide face fast those shooty riptides wreck orks and I've learned to take down the rail guns fast too. Devil fish are flimsy and tank bustas will glance them to pieces. Wish I had more advice and once again I love this list and will have to try it out. I have a tournament tomorrow and am almost considering running this list instead lol. My list is also posted on here if you care to give me some feedback!!

You're welcome. I'm just getting into ork lists myself but I love how much unit saturation they can get. I wouldn't worry as much about rail guns as the ion cannon the hammerhead can take. 3 str8 shots is virtually guaranteed to get a pen on a trukk, the railgun isn't as scary unless it's got the tank commander, then bs5 tank hunters will pop a trukk every other turn at least. Watch out for farsight that guy is scary vs orks cuz of preferred enemy!

Sorry, guys, I happen to pass by on an irregular basis.

Thanks for the feedback. Just had my first pairing for saturday's tournament : Crons.

first game has 15(!) objectives. Wow.
He has quite a fast list, but no flyers and not an excessive amount of wraiths.

Does have some scarab farms though...

TOURNAMENT RESULTS !

Round 1 vs Cron (18 Wraiths, 3 spiders, bunch of warriors & immortals) : lost 15 - 5
One more turn would have netted me at least a draw, as I controlled 5 out of 6 objectives and contested 1.
Also all his wraiths and vehicles were gone, and his 2 remaining spiders were out for grabs (heavy support choices got 3 VP's for each destroyed one).

Round 2 vs Blood Angels (Dante + Medic on bike + sanguinary guard) / Space Marines (chpaermaster on bike, chaplain on bike, 2 bike squads) / Librarium conclave (3 lobbies on bike, Tigurius). I wiped him in 3 turns
20 - 0 win !

Round 3 vs Necrons (again) - a tough game, but won 14 - 6 in the end.

Ended up 6th overall (out of 20) and won the "Best Painted" award !

Army performed really well.

Just make sure to pick the right fight for the right unit.
And deffkoptaz rock for taking the overwatch...
