So, one thing I've been curious about is the policy for resurrecting a thread that has been pinned as an official thread for something. For example, in the video games thread there is a thread labeled 'Finding Dakkaites in Games' so would it be better to make a new thread or just perform witchcraft and bring the current one back to life? My guess is on the latter, but I would like to know which one helps the mods sleep at night easier.

I thought thread necromancy was alright as long as it was on topic and the topic wasn't old enough that further discussion would no longer be relevant; aka bumping old rules threads even if you were on topic should probably be locked since it's obsolete.

Pretty much this, although it can admittedly be somewhat inconsistently applied.

Pinned threads though are certainly ok, as they're right there at the front of the section anyway, and if they're no longer relevant they would be (or should be, at least) unpinned.

Thanks for the replies, I forgot there was a middle ground of necroing a thread, but it being alright as it furthers the argument. This certainly helped sate my curiosity on the subject.
