And some early upgrade card spoilers-
1) There is one officer at 6 points that allow to change a Navigate command into an engineering command.

2) Ackbar is more than 35 points and does indeed add 2 dice, but apparently ships have to be within 5 of the capital ship (not sure about that ?)

3) There is one offensive retrofit that allows squadrons to move at speed 4 but can't shoot.

4) One turbolaser upgrade removes an attack but adds one red dice to the remaining (I think this is Slaved Turrets).

Is armada like that a lot? The same ship can be used with slightly different profiles?

Every ship has 2 variants as base ships. Variants have different upgrade options, stats, and point costs.

Think of them as similar to a different pilots in X-wing where an X-wing can represent 4+ actual x-wing variants.

Yes.

Each ship can be two different "ships," with an more expensive and cheaper version point-wise. There are no pilots in Armada, everything you add to a ship is done with various upgrade cards (Officers, Turbolasers, Defensive Retrofits, Weapons Team, etc.).

Finally got a chance to look it over, and The Command variant with Expanded Hangar Bay just looks so sexy to me... Activate 5 squadrons off of a Squadron command dial? YES PLEASE. The Rebels desperately needed that.

This reminds me. For some reason, the French language version of the X_Wing expansion packs are all more expensive, by about 25%. 0_o

I don't really get why the Imperial Class is faster than the MC-80, as they should be pretty much the same speed. Overall, it looks like a good ship to add to the Rebels, but I had expected a slightly greater points difference from the Imperial Class, due to it having less speed, hull (as the directional nature of shields means they are not as easily superior to hull as in X-Wing, and total attack dice than the Imperial Class.

I'd imagine that the justification is gameplay balance rather than "fluff"; the Victory-II-class should also be faster than the Victory-I, but we don't see that represented either.

The only 3 command dials is good at least.

Can't help but think that engine tend are going to be near essential though. Maybe Raymus Antilles too...
