The Rip (2026 dir. Carnahan) Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunite in this tense crime thriller from Joe Carnahan. Shortly after their captain is murdered a Narcotics police squad stumbles upon what was thought to be a small cash drop but is in fact more than twenty million dollars. As people start distrusting each other and themselves outside forces are closing in. Overall a really well done film if you like crime dramas, though the third act is weaker than the preceding two.

Non spoiler spoiler
Spoiler:
After the natural endpoint for the set up the tone shifts from tense character driven mystery into an action film. Not enough to ruin it but it feels unnecessary and reeks of a studio note saying they had to have a car chase.

Also recommend the criminally under seen Cop Shop (2021) from Carnahann if you like Assault on Precinct 13 kind of films, starring Frank Grillo and Gerard Butler.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
