Hey all,

I'm new to AM/IG and was wondering what a good TAC list would be. My current opponent's armies are CSM, Eldar, and Tau.
I currently have:
5x Guardsmen Squads
2x Leman Russ Battle Tanks
1x Leman Russ Vanquisher with Pask
1x Leman Russ Magnetized Demolisher with Pask(I set it up to swap between the 3 Demolisher Kit Variants)
2x Wyverns
2x Heavy Weapons Teams(2 Autocannons and a Mortar and 3 Lascannons)
1x Basilisk
2x CCS
1x Sentinel
1x Bullgryn Squad
1x Primaris Psyker
6x Commissars
2x Scion Squads
and 1x Baneblade

I also have a good sized SM army as well for allies. I definitely need to invest in Chimeras as well. As it stands, I think I'll get shot off the table without Chimeras.

How many points are you looking to play?

You have a good amount of the right stuff to make a pretty good IG list.

I'd start with Pask in a punisher as your HQ choice, Its literally the 1 OP thing IG has right now to stack up to the other newer codexes, it looks like you will have to use a regular Leman Russ as the other tank in the Squad, which is not Ideal but its ok for now till you can get parts to switch it to an exterminitor.

5 Squads of guardsmen is a very good start! You can blob them up with a commissar and make a desent tarpit or just keep them separate and give them auto-cannon and lascannons. If you have some grenade launchers you can add them to a squad with an autocannon and this makes for a well-rounded squad.

Wyverns are very good, 2 should be enough I think unless your going for games over 2000 points.

The other specialised stuff you have is ok, its just hard to justify their points cost for what they can do, when you can just buy more guardsmen and weapons, As guard you want to try to outlast your enemy, Expect heavy losses, your guardsmen will die horribly to all the super mutants and alien cheese out there, but hopefully not in vain as your enemy will be overwhelmed by the amount of targets and not be able to kill them quickly enough and efficiently enough.

Thanks for the reply and advice! We are going mostly casual so they're fine with proxying so I could probably proxy the exterminators, until I can get some. We mostly play around 1500-2000 points. I promised them I wouldn't field the Baneblade until they have enough ways to deal with it. I still have my Knight and SM army though! *Queue evil laugh* So I should probably invest in more Guardsmen and Leman Russ kits and definitely Chimeras.

Oh I also forgot, I have a Creed and Kell as well as Straken, but I've read they're not the best.

Put all the IG squads into one blob, attach as many psykers, priests and commissars as you can, then attach Yarrick and an allied Azrael from Dark Angels, and you now have an unkillable objective holder.

I'd probably do something like this:

Two large infantry squads (20 and 30 with a commissar each, a priest each and a psyker)

Pask in a Punisher with a Russ buddy, a Tank commander in a Vanquisher with a Russ buddy, and finally both Wyverns. Now that might be 1k? Maybe a bit closer to 1250.

If you want, build some plasma and melta scion squads for deepstriking suicide love.
