Hello everyone,

I have decided to have a look at what kind of nurgle list could be challenging and fun to play with. I know there are some competitive options in Imperial Armour 5 Second Edition but I love my Bloody Handed reaver and 5+ Armour infantry platoons, which I've been able to squeeze alot in with here (I think). Everything has flak armour and militia training. Five strong flyers are waiting in reserve, the infantry hide under the void shield ready to move forwards. The command squad chimera possibily waits in reserve to prevent giving up first blood. Please let me know what you guys think!

Renegades & Heretics: Imperial Armour 13

Command Squad
-Chimera, Multilaser, Heavy Bolter

Arch Demagogue
-Bloody-handed Reaver, Covenant of Nurgle, Power Fist, Warlord (goes with zombies)
-50 Zombies

Blight Drones
-3x Blight Drones

Platoon Command Squad
-Enforcer with Power Fist and Combat Drugs
-20x Renegades: 3x Melta Gun, Krak Grenades, Chaos Sigil, Melta Bomb

Infantry Squad 1
-Enforcer with Power Fist and Combat Drugs
-20x Renegades: 3x Melta Gun, Krak Grenades, Chaos Sigil, Melta Bomb

Infantry Squad 2
-Enforcer with Power Fist and Combat Drugs
-20x Renegades: 3x Melta Gun, Krak Grenades, Chaos Sigil, Melta Bomb

Infantry Squad 3
-10x Renegades: 2x Melta Gun, Krak Grenades
-Valkyrie

Infantry Squad 4
-10x Renegades: 2x Melta Gun, Krak Grenades
-Valkyrie

Void Shield Generator
-3x shields

I'm super new to all this but really want to see this book and see what else I could add to an army. This list looks like it would be fun to play and play against.

Papa Nurgle loves you!

Your list has like a 135 men (or manly zombies) in it and this will be a struggle for your enemy to kill especially with VSG.

Your list also quite neatly covers anti-air / tanks (at close range) and horde (with another horde) while simultaneously making your enemy have to deal with the first and last of these problems.

Further you have not mixed in armour, which is good because I think this would have taken away rather than added. Appropriate use of sigils to cut out ld nonsense.

The command squad is compulsory right?

Overall I think the list is good at delivering threat overload at cost - I would be fascinated to see how it plays.

While Blight Drones are cool and all, running 3 of them is getting really expensive (both points and cash-wise). They're also not THAT good. I would drop down to 1 single Drone, and free up enough points to add some proper long-range shooting.

Drop 2 drones and you can buy 3 Heavy Quad Launchers ("Thudd Guns") and 6 Rapier Laser Destroyers, the latter easily being one of the best and most insanely undercosted units available to Renegades, and Thudd Guns being amazing at clearing out infantry.

Personally I wouldn't bother with Power Fists on Enforcers, 25p for S6 attacks is just meh, imo. It's alright on the Demagogue as he doesn't pay full price for it, but iirc the Enforcers do.

@Will post as soon as each squad is painted!

@Grafwattenburg Yes three is a lot, but it will make an opponent nervous about where those three large blast or templates are going to land. Enforcers with powerfist isn't points efficient by itself but synergies extremely well with a large squad that has another character to accept and die in the challenge while he deals out a lot of attacks unanswered behind a wall of meat shields. The cheap option is a power axe and it is 2 strength less (Enforcers get cheap power weapons and plasma pistols, arch demagogues get cheap power fists and power weapons). The Arch Demagogue indeed already has a powerfist in this list and he or she could go in the infantry blobs instead of the zombies for some extra feel no pain on the squad and to double up powerfist destruction.

i often run three blight drones. while they aren't cheap, they are useable. three s6 flamers is nice. three templates is nice. some half decent flyer defense is nice.
the 2+ jink is nice if they go into hovermode to score.

that said when I'm running them it's usually for fun. while I think they're competitive, they're still not as good as a chaos knight or fire raptors.
or perhaps even weapon batteries as you say.

they're in that weird realm that I'd say sure, they're worth the points and they're good. but if you're trying to find MAXIMUM efficiency, there are some overpowered units with access that may serve better.

I have three Rapier batteries and Four Heavy Mortars, but if I included them my list would not be as mobile and I would start from the ground up and create an entirely new list. Perhaps if I was playing a 2000 points game they could be included, for extra cheese the Rapiers could probably fit on the battlements of the Void Shield Generator

Really glad to hear you have had good balance of fun and success with the Blight Drones... I will probably get them once I have finished painting most of the army, but need to figure out how to convert them to look differently to each other.

Wait, you can pull the Arch Demagogue out of the command squad and put him in another (giving that 5+ invl) to a bigger squad? That's a legit and legal thing?

If I put him in a squad of Mutant Rabble, would he confer the 6+FNP convent as well? Or would I still have to buy it for them?

The 5+ invul is the refractor field which the Bloody Handed Reaver Arch Denagogue wears, it doesn't confer to any unit he/she is in. However the Covenant would confer to the unit.

So if you put an Arch Demsgogue with Covenant of Nurgle in a Mutant Rabble, it would gain 6+ feel no pain while the Arch Demagogue was there. Additionally you could upgrade the champion with a covenant of a different God to benefit from two different covenants in the same unit. If you have an Enforcer added to the unit, it also benefits from the covenants.

Yeah misread that. I'm thinking of running a blob of mutant rabble with Arch Demagogue of Nurgle, an Enforcer with combat drugs, and a dark apostle.
30 Mutants, 4 attacks each on the charge (Enforcer), with rerolls for the first round thanks to the Apostle. Apostle also cleans up the uncertain worth problem while Demagogue gives them 6+ FNP. I think at this point I probably wont need another Covenant for the squad...
I'm new to the book so I've been playing around a bit with the models I have.
