Hi all! I need some help; long story short, where do these 3 legions sit on the "red-ness" levels? which is the brightest? which ones is the darkest? how would you all paint these legions? From what I've heard and red (Ha!) , Word bearers are the darkest, along the lines of Khorne red, while blood angels and thousand sons are similar reds, but I'm not sure. Any input would be appreciated.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

Wait, what? Word Bearers were grey during 30k.

Oh, cool. For some reason I had thought that the Word Bearers turned color after fleeing to the Eye of Terror. My mistake.

I have seen Thousand sons with golden trims and with white trims. Which one is correct?
I am planning to paint my Battle at Calth on Thousand sons colors and I prefer that golden trim variant. But which one is correct? Golden only for sergeants?

The CCG art tended to have entire squads with the same colour markings, be it all-gold, all-white, all-silver, or a mix:

I expect FW will do the same thing, as they've done it with some of the legions so far (Emperor's Children sometimes have gold trims, sometimes silver. Death Guard have a random mix of black, gold or white backpacks, and gold or green pad trims).

My personal theory is white for infantry and gold for characters and veterans.
Looks like FW is going for gold for all.

I've mulled over this question for how I'd distinguish the legions in 30k, and while this isn't official, this is what I've settled on.
Thousand Sons - Gleaming, metallic red, pure silver or gold highlights, probably with gold trim
Blood Angels - True, neutral, primary colours, red. Essentially the traditional Blood Angels scheme
Word Bearers - Dark grey blending into dark red edges and brighter red highlights.
These schemes are fairly distinct while remaining true to the spirit of the colour schemes that we've been presented with over the years

Interestingly the word Bearers went back to grey post heresy, the red support erebus, the grey kor pharon, that's what I got from the word Bearers books anyway.
