Subject: skathach wraithknight - more or less balanced? still OP?

Thinking of Joining a Davinite Loge

I don't own a wraithknight, primarily because of the hate it brings. However, i was wondering what the community thinks about the FW variant. Specifically the deathshroud cannon one.
This one has two cannons which are S7 AP4, monofilament, hellstorm.
From a competitve standpoint i think it's a fab ignores cover unit which is somethig eldar do struggle with - at least with decent range or on a mobile unit. I only play corsairs so i don't have any of the cheesy nonsense from the CW Eldar book. However, i am aware that just a single WK is always decried as cheese but i don't want to play cheese.
So, given the weapon profile above, do you think it's cheese to run one of these in a non CW Eldar list like corsairs? I couldn't stomach forking out £70 for a normal WK and this one is £105 but I'm a massive sucker for FW and I'm mightily tempted...

The weapons you named are good, but the issue is that Scatterbikes put out enough shots that, for the points, the ignore cover aspect is kinda lost. Plus 36" D Weapons are more disgusting.
Otherwise, it's durable enough to eat close, and shoot at separate targets. At the very least, you can end up covering an invisible unit...

Yeah, what I'm thinking is that it's clearly a durable unit but it's weapons aren't OMG OP although they are strong

Well with monofilament and that high of Str, there are very few units in the game that it will not be wounding on a 2+.
So auto hit 2 templates from 12" away
wound on 2+ for virtually all units
AP4 unless roll a 6 for wound then AP2
ignore cover
Very good imo

Don't forget that the deathshroud cannons have shred for rerolling to wound. It certainly helps.
I'm a fan of the inferno lances for d3 + 2 36" str 8 ap 1 melta shots. I've got other sources of str D in my army.
Lastly, the ability to jump into ongoing reserves is ace.

IIRC It's actually more expensive than the regular Wraithknights. I think they're probably a bit more balanced because of that alone. The Inferno Cannon is probably similar in power to the Wraithcannons, but Wraithcannons are going to be better against armour most of the time just because they don't have to get within 18" for that melta. Potential 10 36" Str 8 AP1 shots is pretty nasty against elite formations though.
The Deathshroud is okay, I mean they'll shred infantry (no pun intended) but there's loads of Eldar units that pump out a lot of wounds.
However, like I said, I think both of them are more expensive than the stock Wraithknight for comparable power so probably more balanced overall. They're both better than the Suncannon Variant I think.
