I absolutely hate assembling. Like with a passion. Assembling my kataphrons took a monk's patience. I was complaining about this to my buddy who plays DE. He is a fairly new painter and I think it has been frustrating him. Either way he offered to assemble my next box in exchange for painting his HQ. I am an OK painter but I am really trying to do a good job for him. Here is my WIP Haemonculus. I did one side of the skin cloak to completion just to see how it would look and to show him how it might look. What do you guys think?

That is looking fantastic so far! If the rest of the model is as good as that cape then your friend is in for a treat!

Very subtle colours, looking good.
My one comment is that it looks like you're using washes. Be careful to draw the wash away from the middle of the panels, as you're getting pooling and spelling on the flat areas. In this case it works as dirt on the skin. In other areas it wouldn't.

good advice. I use a lot of washes. I did go over it again with the same colors after washing. I figure skin isnt a uniform color so I did not want to get rid of all the splotchyness.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Here is a little more WIP. I might be done for today, hands getting tired but I got the outside cloak done and some of the spine done.

His DE have black armor with orange in them. How can I incorporate that into this model which has almost no armor? Just highlight the armor in orange? Orange robe? not sure.

The Haemonculus is looking great so far. As for the armor I don't know if I'd worry about it. The haemonculus' come from their own covens and might attach themselves to a raiding party as they please, no need to paint him up in your buddy's scheme.

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Orange blades or handles? Their weapons are considered unique and odd.
