Hey guys I've been contemplaiting starting a 30k army. But not sure on the book I'll need. I know the army list books are out, im going to start a loyalist legion. Will i need to buy both army books or just one? (dont know the name of the books but im talking about the red ones) also are all the rules on those books or do i need extra ones? Same goes forthe mechanicum thagmata book?

Currently the red books are out of print. don't know what other books that I need to start HH as well.

Well, the first HH book contains traitor legions but they can be played before the fall. But then without the Primarchs.

Out of print or out of stock? When I looked last week, the Crusade Legions book was out of stock, but the other one was in stock still. You need to pick up the two red books for the answers you seek. Note that BA, WS, SW, and DA have not been released yet, and UM is in a different book, but the actual army list is in one of the red books by itself and is required no matter which legion you want to play.

I emailed FW and asked about the Legion Astartes Gamer's Collection at the beginning of the month. Here's what they told me:

Currently the book is being sent to the printers to have another batch produced ready to back on sale as soon as the work is complete. At this time we do not have an expected time frame for the print run to be completed but we believe it will not be ready for sale this side of Christmas.

They said the Istvaan Legions book was sold out due to an increase in popularity.

Which legion do you want to do?

I call bs of forge world, I'd say there updating for the February release, or at least including ultra marines...

Assuming the red books are a direct reprint then you can get by with just those. Some of the newer tanks and flyers aren't in the red books (yet) though.
