I was wondering whether there was so I have some already completed miniatures wielding two handed weapons and was wanting the option of having shields on them/off them depending upon the game system that I was playing. I envisage that this would involve either having a buckler on an arm or a shield on their backs. As they are already painted I don't want to hack into them to magnetise arms etc. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to how to achieve this. I was wondering whether I could make some shields with a type of hook on them (to hook over the miniature’s forearm) but was uncertain if there was a technique for this.

Magnetizing doesn't have to be destructive.

Drill a hole into the shield, press some greenstuff onto the other component, wet the shield, press the shield into the position you want, remove the shield and drill through the little GS nub that is left on the arm, remove remaining GS from arm, insert magnet, paint it black/whatever.

Blutac can replace greenstuff, but requires more fiddling.

I can't see a hook being terribly effective, though maybe over their back it would wokr.

If you are doing backs I just pin them and leave a tiny hole say in the central vent on the pack and glue the side attached to the shield. If you angle it ever so slightly gravity might help keep it in place.

There is also always sticky/poster tac. It’s what I used to swap bits around before I started magnetizing.
