I'm about to buy a couple of Start Collecting! Skitarii boxes after not being involved in 40k for over 4 years. From what I researched the box comes with a formation (Dominus Maniple) that is not available in the Skitarii Codex. Since the Tech-priest Dominus is not a part of Skitarii but rather Cult Mehanicus does that mean that the Dominus Maniple is considered to be an allied detachment in a Skitarii army?

No, its a Formation, which is its own thing.

If the Faction of the Dominus Maniple formation is not Skitarii then it would be an allied detachment if your primary detachment is Skitarii in the sense that it would be a detachment that requires looking at the allies rules.

It would not be an Allied Detachment, which is a specific type of detachment.

But I believe the Dominus Maniple is a Skitarii-faction formation, so it's just another Skitarii formation in a Skitarii army.
