Hey Guys,

until now I've been a long time lurker enjoying this great community. As I'm having some issues right now, I thought I might see, if someone can help me. So here goes:

I just recently started using oil paints. Using them as a wash over gloss coat works like a charm. When it comes to using them to create streaks of grime and rust I'm running into some problems.
My technique is pretty much the same as shown in the video below. However, whenever I use a soft, broad brush to blend the oil paints to form the actual streaks I am just left with lots of little lines of oil paint. No blending whatsoever!

You're probably putting too much paint down. You really, really only need a TINY amount.
Oil paints tend to be far more pigmented than the acrylics we're used to.
