Hi
I have recently started painting again (Blood Angels) and I have found that GW brushes are total garbage. Can anyone advise any other brands of brushes? Don't mind paying top prices. UK based shops please.
Thanks

Winsor&Newton make phenomenal brushes. In specific their Series 7 kolinsky sable hair brushes are the greatest thing to happen to the miniature hobby since glue. They are a tad expensive but totally worth it. I also enjoy the Galleria series of W&N brushes and they are totally affordable. The Army Painter has some nice brushes for cheap especially if you get them in the 3 packs that come with brushes of similar use. I would stay away from their Insane Detail brush however, just my personal opinion but I found it to be total garbage.

I'm still pretty new to painting miniatures, but have been painting art my whole life. I've discovered that in the miniature realm, your brushes get destroyed pretty damn quick. By the end of a squad of Ork Boyz, my brushes are shot regardless of the initial quality. I keep a few good ones dedicated to detail work and buy the cheap brands for bodies and coating and toss them when they are shot. Just accept it as a cost of the hobby.
As for quality, look for sable or badger hair brushes. Does DickBlick ship to the UK? That's the best art supply store out there.

In the UK you want Rosemary & Co. 33 series kolinsky sable brushes. Very nearly same quality as W&N, but literally half the price.
