Hello, I am trying to find some decently priced brushes, I've been using crappy brushes from a local craft store to paint up my orks, any suggestions?

rosemary and CO are about 13 bucks each which puts them in the median for price but i have read a LOT of golden daemon winners that have used them over the years

Raphael 8404 are reasonably good brushes that are moderately priced.

Make sure you get something to clean the brushes and learn good brush care before you destroy good brushes.

I use the crappy art store brushes (the hog's hair ones) to basecoat, saves the nicer 2s (red sable usually) for more detailed highlights or what not.

Reaper makes (sells) some ok brushes, they're not great, but they'll last you a bit and work well, during their lifespan.

I've heard a lot about Rosemary & Co, intend to try them out next but can't comment personally on them yet.

Brushcare is really important - it makes everything last longer and helps even the cheap brushes work well, as long as they can. You'll definitely want to get the brush soap "The Masters" Brush cleaner and preserver. And eventually probably the Windsor and Newton Brush cleaner and restorer (only! for natural hair brushes) - it really really helps remove the paint that tends to get in the ferrule over time, despite your best intentions. But read the instructions carefully, that stuff can melt plastic.

Trekell produces some decent brushes for the price. They have synthetics as well as natural hair brushes (sable, hog), for about $5.00 each. I ordered 3 brushes from them last year. Inexpensive shipping via USPS. Links for you:

Raphael 8404s are great, Da Vinci Series 11s are a bit cheaper and almost as nice.

I've had good luck with the couple of Winsor & Newton Professional Water Colour Sable brushes that I have.

Creative Models make some reasonably good but cheap Kolinsky brushes. I'm not sure if you can still get them, I used to be able to buy them in Australia but now I can't, I think they're a UK brand so I don't know if they stopped manufacturing them or just stopped shipping them to Australia

I prefer Windsor & Newton to GW brushes. Unfortunately I have to order the W & N brushes while I can pick up GW brushes at the FLGS. My family bought me some el cheapo Hobby Lobby brushes for Christmas. I'll use those for base coats and dry brushing.

Warcolours have some decent and inexpensive brushes. Just be aware what they call a size 2 many other manufacturers call a size 0.

I almost said. Da Vinci Series 1526Y are great brushes for the money.
Then i checked the US prices, but maybe all brushes are that more expensive in US than in Germany?
