Ok I have some questions? I have been out of the hobby for about 10 years. Sold all my stuff never thought I would play 40k again. Well I have been infected once again and now I am luring my kids into this. So with all the changes I am seeking some help. I am more likely just going to play causually no tourneys anything like that ( maybe). I have already decide for my first army ( notice I used the word first) I wanted Harlequins. My question is how do I and what are the pros and cons of filling it out with Eldar? Would Dark Eldar be a possibility? I am looking for a little guidance again not familiar with all the changes to the game so bare with me. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Not a harlequin player myself but from what I've seen they are usually a good alliance force with the other flavors of eldar because of their "glass hammer" nature and the battle brothers all around thing. If you want pure clowns I'd go with the dark eldsr strategy and get a lot of troupes (I think they're called) in transports and jet bikes and then ally in for cheap bodies or cool models in higher point values or repeat till satisfied. That's really all the advice I can give, welcome back to 40k!

Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to Dakka!

Both Eldar and Dark Eldar are viable allies for Harlequins - as Harlies have a limited number of different units, other, fuller, codexes provide more options. There's the new FAQ from GW causing some issues with what was (in my opinion) one of the main pro's - sharing of transports (fitting a Troupe + more than one character in a Dark Eldar Raider), but even limited to their own transports getting some Fire Dragons or Blaster-born for anti-tank etc. etc. is worth looking at. Even if it's just for a bit more variety.
