I just noticed that Battlescribe has its Razorback entry as featuring a Laz-Cannon and Plasma Gun as a 20pt upgrade for both.... whereas I am 99% sure my Codex entry says the Laz alone should cost that. Can someone clarify? Did I make a mistake of did someone mess up the Battlescribe data-file? :-p

Are you getting Lascannon+Plasma Gun mixed up with the Twin-Linked Lascannon?

No the Las-Plas Razor back has existed for awhile. Just never used/modeled as you lose a lascannons twin linked and you gotta close in asap to use the plasma gun, which still can take itself out thanks to gets hot.

Actually it is a fairly popular option. It was the original option for the 2nd edition model and was dropped during 4th but came back in 5th. The current model is available from Forgeworld. And it is the same price as a twin-linked lascannon.

haha, I remember when these were the "standard" Razorbacks. Featured in all the codices and on the box.

It's not really much better than the TL-las. As others have said, you need to be close, and you can strip a hull point on an already fragile vehicle. Would much rather just have TL-las and sit back in cover or near an objective.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Yeah, I think FW only produced their las-plas turret for the sake of old-school gamers suffering from nostalgia

It does better when fast (BA)
It can take a weapon destroyed hit and still shoot
If it doesn’t need to move, it can put out a lot of dakka.

It’s got a lot of things going for it.

Got an old pewter one. A razorback with a single twin linked weapon is usually better, because it can move 6" and still fire its one weapon at full BS.

They were kinda popular during the 5th edition (aka rhino/razor-spam edition).
This about it this way: back then almost any weapon could one-shot a tank if you could do a penetrating hit (6 was explode on the damage chart). And there was a TON of light tanks on the table, all the time. The Las-plas razor allowed you to:
- have one S9 shot at long range.
- have one S9 shot / one S7 shot at medium range, or both if you dont move / are fast.
- have one S9 shot / two S7 shots at short range, or both if you dont move / are fast.

Having more shots at AP2 (even with some at a slightly less strength) allowed you to destroy all those light tanks more easily, and also kill more marines.

Thanks for the insights guys. I honestly didn't realize this was a thing, and having only played since the very beginning of 6th, I never witnessed one myself.

A quick scan of SoL puts the first sighting of the original back in ’94.

Here is a color pic from the ’95 catalog of the original.
