Hey guys,

I have a large army which was destined to be Soul Drinkers i've decided to either sell or repurpose. Since I have scattered mutations all through to reflect the Drinker's story, I thought maybe a custom chapter that way I can make them anything I please.

So I had this idea, wanting to do something completely different than I had before, to do an Ocean/Sea theme.

The proposed scheme is Teal/Turquoise coloured armour, with white shoulder pads and helmets.

The basing would be gravel and rock, with green stuff water/ocean washing up in certain places .

The iconography would include oceanic style things such as the Octopus Icons from the Dark Elf (Fantasy) Corsair kits , and I would also free hand some tentacles and scales on some armour panels.

I cannot decide if this is one of the best ideas I have ever had, or I am setting myself up for a Freak Show of an army

Opinions ?

(P.S If an army like this pops up now, I will always know )

Sounds cool. Paint up a 5 man squad and then decide.

I may have to! Thinking of painting up a single marine, one of the Snap Fit ones from a starter kit I got way back. Might throw up the result on here ( No basing though just model) and see what you think !

sounds like it could be a pretty cool army theme, or a heretical abomination, depending on how well you can pull it off

...I've seen a couple of nurgle chaos marine armies before with a similar kind of theme, but never a loyalist marines army, so it'd definitely be interesting

and yeah, I think the 5-man concept squad, or yeah, just a single test-mini, would be a good way to start - enough to tell if it's going to work or not, but not too big an investment

...I bet some rhinos/landraiders could turn out pretty cool done like that though...

Yeeaahhh its definately on the fence right now as to whether I can pull it off or not !

The way I see it is I have this large Marine army that is failing to sell ( I think due to the subtle mutations, even though they only average 1-2 models per squad) so may as well try repurpose them !

Oh definately. I had this amazing image in my mind of a Storm Raven with tentacles paintd all up the sides and scales on the wings !

heck, if all else fails, when they're done up in this new scheme, if you still have trouble selling 'em, just add on some bronze trim with verdigis (tiny bit of blue and green, a good amount of white, thinned right down to a wash - or GW's "nihilakh oxide"), and a bunch of dirt'n'grime on the armour, pass 'em off as nurgle marines

Oh definately. I had this amazing image in my mind of a Storm Raven with tentacles paintd all up the sides and scales on the wings !

haha...yup! that's sounds a lot like what I was thinking

I think that sounds really stunning. Especially the colours.
It'd be neat as well, if you could get them some cloaks and pin drill them to look like tattered ships flags or sails.

Definitely. I was thinking the Corsair Cloaks from the Dark Elf Corsair kits may work well

Haha man if this test marine doesnt work I am just shelving the entire army for a while until I try resell . The test marine isnt working so well so far, but I think im just having an off-night. First the paint is too streaky, then too watery, etc etc.

oh I feel for you with the paint man...haha...I'm working on a badmoonz style battlewagon at the moment...it was a second-hand mostly pre-painted one, already a kinda dirty brownish-yellow colour, but I decided I wanted a brighter yellow, so I decided to just slap some yriel yellow over it, figuring it'd be an easy base colour to build off, coupla coats, no worries, right?
...at least 6 coats later, over the whole sodding battlewagon, it's still got a few little streaks here and there! - I'm calling it there though, it's clean enough, and any imperfections will get hidden with copious amounts of weathering and chipping later anyway

Wow..I have never heard of them. Cool symbol . I picked the octopus symbol purely because I had a large dark elf army and have a fair few Corsair octo-banner tops left

They have a much darker feel than what I was going for, but definately a cool one.

Oh yellow....My old nemesis. I had Imperial fists once. HAD. ONCE

Definitely right on the battle damage hiding streaks, and being Orky the more 'pre-loved' the better ! Throw up some pics on your gallery once done

Yeah I think im calling it here.... and might paint up some of my mechanicus tomorrow lol
