Hey guys I'm building my Crimson slaughter army and I'm curious about a Dark Apostle. My question is, are all the Dark Apostles for Chaos part of the Word Bearers legion? I can't really find a strait answer to this via google.

thanks!

Armies I'm piddling with:
SM - Storm Giants
CSM - Crimson Slaughter
KDK - The Wrath

Pre-heresy either Word Bearers were the only legion to have Apostles OR all the other legions killed their chaplains for sticking with the emperor. This changes depending on which fluff source you read (older material indicates the other legions killed their Chaplains. Newer ones indicate only Word Bearers had them).

However for the Crimson Slaughter, this would be their own chaplains. The CS are a chapter that was recently turned to chaos, so their Chaplains would have been dragged along for the ride. Same goes for other Apostles in the 41st millenium.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Dark Apostles are not limited to Word Bearers. They used to be in old lore, but there's really no reason that the particular skills necessary to be a Dark Apostle would be limited to Word Bearers.

oh okay cool, yeah for painting I didn't know if it was like the librarians that no matter what chapter they are they are suppose to be ultra blue, so I didn't know if that was the same for the D.A.

The original Dark Apostles are all pre-heresy Word Bearers. In the CSM codex the term basically means any Chaos Marine who preaches Chaos. So no.

Ultra-Ultramarines are a great idea.

They're just a dark mirror of the Space Marine Chaplains, in the same way Sorcerers are dark mirrors of Librarians.

Either way, they look best in black in my mind
