Has anyone here painted at GW before?

What is it like? Do you bring your own stuff, or can you buy a model right there and strip the mold lines, glue it, prime and paint it all with the store's tools and paint?

When I worked in a gw store, customers had to bring their own stuff for hobbying, unless it was an intro session. It is a shop after all, they are trying to sell stuff, not give it away.

I use to paint in a GW Store back in 4th edition. Dunno if it was company-wide policy or if it was just the manager being nice, but he had "The Red Box" filled with every GW paint in existence at the time. It was free for anyone to use but only in the store. He'd regularly restock it too.

EDIT: Of course nowadays you're expected to bring everything with you. I've seen one shop that won't even provide water (I don't mean not provide cups, I mean flat out making you run to the nearest bathroom in another shop if you wanted a water change).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I think a few stores did that until someone decided it wasn't clever giving away what they could sell.

That said, no regional managers means that store managers can get away with doing so if they wished.

For mine, we have the similar "red box" usually if we haven't got a particular colour and want to test it out. There is generally a few of us that paint there. I do just so I don't procrastinate and do other stuff.

Usually you take the colours you need, clippers and brushes.
It's variable by store if you get paper towels and palettes.
