Subject: Daemon Weapons and AP value

Hey guys,
Haven't posted in long while but I am playing a game tomorrow where I may be up against some daemon weapons.
My games have been patchy throughout 6th and 7th so here is my question:
What AP values do daemon weapons use?
Do they follow the same rules for power swords/axes/maces (AP 3/2/4) and therefore are they unwieldy?
Thanks

Daemon Weapons have their own profiles in the current book. The term "Daemon Weapon" is actually a special rule for a select few relic that certain characters can take.
Note that if wielded by a monstrous creature, the AP automatically becomes 2 if I recall.

Yup, what mecha said. Daemon weapon is a special rule, like any others, and only means you get extra attacks. It has no effect on strength, ap, I, or anything, you have to look to the weapon profile for that information. And also like mecha said, a common tactic is to give a daemon weapon with a not-so-great AP value (like the black mace, AP4) to a daemon prince, who gets AP2 attacks due to him being a MC.
For example, typhus's daemon weapon is unwieldy, whereas abbadon's is not.
Also worth noting, it sounds like you think that all power weapons (swords/axes/maces) are unwieldy. This is not correct - only power axes (and fists) are unwieldy.

Unless the weapon itself is AP1
Good examples included a Lord of Change with Staff, and a Blood Thirster with D-Axe
The Staff is AP4, but wielded by a LoC it is AP2, because MCs have Smash
The D-Axe is AP1, thus is better than the BTs Smash, so you use AP1

I knew that only axes and maces where unwieldy but after looking at how I worded the post I can understand that's how I came across. Apologies for that.
So just to clarify, for example, a power sword that has the daemon weapon special rule strikes at the users initiative and has AP3?
Thanks for the replies!

There is currently no way to get a Power Sword with the Daemon Weapon special rule.
"Daemon Weapon" is a special rule that only certain weapons have. There's currently no way to upgrade a generic weapon (of any kind, including Power Swords) with the Daemon Weapon rule. All existing Daemon Weapons have their own profile and are Relics of some kind.
Note that the Inquisition does have a weapon also called something similar (I think it's called Daemon Blade?) Note that it has it's own rules and such, and is not a Daemon Weapon in-game (so it does not benefit from the Daemon Weapon rule).

Only power/force axes are unwieldy, not maces/mauls/staffs.
And as MechaEmperor7000 said, Daemon Weapon is a special rule you get for relic weapons in the CSM codex, not generic weapons. Typhus' scythe is one example.
If by "daemon weapon" you mean various close combat weapons used by units in the Chaos Daemons codex, these are also special weapons with their own stats, not generic power weapons.

Like others said, you can't give a generic power sword the daemon weapon rule, but hypothetically, yes, it would be a power sword, just like any power sword, that gives you D6 extra attacks (but bad stuff happens on a 1). All daemon weapons do is just give the weapon more attacks (which is pretty damned good).
