Hi all.

I collect and play Chaos, but I have these Dark Angels from the Dark Vengeance box and frankly I don't know what to do with them.


Now, I was thinking of filing away the Aquila on this guy, paint him black, and BAM, Fallen Angel.



The other idea would be to use the bald guy, cut the imperial insignia on his back, replace it with a chaos one, do a couple other additions and modifications, and BAM, Word Bearer.



No idea what to do with the Lord, the Tactical squad, the Bikers or the Terminators though. I could convert them to normal chaos space marines, but meh, they'd be rather bland and vanilla and require a lot of work (while I'm trying to make each model in my army look unique). I could make them Fallen Angels, but I don't want to have too many of those, and I would have one already.

What to do? Does anyone have any cool idea?

I converted all mine to my own chapter. It was not as easy as I thought.

Then again I had to get rid of the sword icons, etc. so it was not fun.

If you are not needing to do that, it should not be hard at all.

Make them a freshly fallen warband of Dark Angels. Rough up all their iconography and paint it up. Make sure to free hand some terrible makeshift chaos stuff in there and BAM. Also you could have some of them starting to "Repaint" their armor or kitbash stuff you have left from chaos marines to the newly fallen.

You could just paint them up in chaos colours.

Paint free hand extra details to chaos them up (trim on the shin pads, faces protruding from the armor, chaos stars, etc). Paint defilements of imperial insignia.

Modelling-wise, one basic step is to give them chaos backpacks and completely change their silhouette.



Here are some renegades I made from the mk6s and sergeant. Backpack swaps, arm swaps and spikey bits. They represent recent renegades so some remnants of imperial iconography.
