OK, first official day of working on my new Sisters of Battle Army. GW stubbornly refused to release modern models still, but I have decided to carry on. I have painted the first 50 bases and 50 heads from Statuesque Miniatures are on order. 50 may or may not be a good number for the army, it is difficult to tell as the codes is not even rumored of at this point, but is seems like a good number to work with for now.

The new Sisters models, WHEN they come out are going to be sweet. How do I know this if I have not seen them yet? I'll explain. Look at a Second edition Marine, now look at a modern marine. See how much they have improved? It is huge. Now look at the second edition Sister, the one we have to this day. She is a pretty good mini, much better than the second edition marine. Even today, she shows her age, but she has done so with grace and is still a good model. Now imagine if she got half as much better with modern skill and technology as the Marine had. Yes, you see it now, she will be pretty sweet.

Some may say I am being optimistic, but I prefer to say I am being prepared. (Deciding on colors alone is going to take forever.)

I want to do this army to my best ability. I have found I can knock out an army in about a month, but I want this one to be truly epic. It will be slow, but I wish to take my time and enjoy the crafting of this army.

I will continue to show my preparations and my eventual progress in this thread.

I'll look forward to seeing it.
This is probably best as a pm blog though.

Looks good so far.

This will -- if you want to keep on updating this thread -- fit better in the P & M blog section.

If you'd like it moved hit the alert and we'll do so

Day Two, I have decided the bases are to bright for ruins and inked them a little, also I found 50 french female names and labeled the bases. I just used some normal labels cut to size and with clear coat brushed on. However, the results are mixed, I think I am going to have to take them off and use waterslide transfers. At least I can tell that the general idea of names on the bases is good, I just need the proper materials to do it. And removing these labels should be easy.

From a distance, things look good:

But up close:

UPDATE: I got some waterslide decals and it worked much better. Still had to touch up the edges of the decals with paint, but it was well worth it.

Names:

With Waterslide decals:

Much better!

50 is not going to be enough, so I am making a list of 50 more names and I am going to get more bases this Friday when I get paid. 100 should be enough for a Sisters of Battle army.

It looks like Sisters of Silence and Sisters of Battle will be BFFs. I think it will be a simple matter to paint over the fleurs-de-lis on bases I put Sisters of Silence on.

The second batch of names:
