So I just got a DA veterans kit, and I'm unsure to make them company veteran squad or command squad, and what weapons to give them. keep in mind that the people in my local gaming club are playing at 1850pt, I only got 1500, and GW plastic glue inst exactly what I would call permanent, plus chances are Il just spend 5 euros in magnets to make it esier to switch their weapons.

There are two ways I like to run mine. The first is giving everyone combi-grav guns/x2 grav guns, loading them up into a drop pod and instagibbing a select unit. The second is as a command squad+vets, everyone gets a power weapon, throw in an ic or two, load into landraider, instagib a select unit. What happens after your initial mayhem is entirely up to the dice.

Can I give them each a boltgun and a special weapon?

Combi-Weapons galore. Use them like a cheaper Suicide Sternguard squad.

Fine, I bough a SM Commander kit in second hand the other day that brought 3 or 4 combis, plus 1 or 2 I had before that should be enough, I'm gonna magnetize tem anyway just to be sure. In terms of melee weapons what should I give them?

I've heard of (and even tried myself with proxied models) a Command Squad with an Apothecary, a Sacred Standard, and 5x Gravgun. The Standard gives Relentless, and the Apothecary gives FnP. Just take a psyker along to hopefully give Invis or something and take a transport so you don't have to footslog everywhere and go nuts!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
