Does anyone have any information on this event during the Great Crusade other than the terse description;

During the Great Crusade Ophelia VII was the site of a battle for the Imperium's forces; where the Emperor himself, led the charge with one hundred Custodians and ten thousand Legiones Astartes of the Imperial Fists Legion.

?

The reference for that is The Horus Heresy Book Three - Extermination, pg. 61. I do not own the book, and don't particularly want to buy it just on the off-chance it contains more information.

I am writing a bit of fluff for my own army, and would like to be able to tie my fluff into this event (if any details exist). Details such as, who were they fighting? What required the Emperor personally, 100 Custodes and ten Chapters of Marines? This was a Great Crusade battle, so it was not against traitor Marines - Xenos of some kind?

If anyone has any information, I would be grateful. I suspect, however, there IS no information beyond that single, throw-away description. At which point, I shall just make up whatever I wish for my fluff

In the Great Crusade, humanity encountered xenos empires that have had millennia to fester and grow unchecked (unlike 40k where everyone constantly fights everyone), becoming terribly powerful in the process. This story is one example among many highlighting this trait; another is the Ork fought by Horus and the Emperor, who eclipses any 'current' specimen.

If you don't know anything about it other than that very vague and general description, why exactly do you want to tie your army's lore into it?

That description doesn't even tell you who won the battle or what the objective was for fighting it.

First, prior to Horus being elevated to Warmaster, the Emperor was on the front lines of the Great Crusade. From the fact the event only gets a one sentence description in Extermination*, this was likely a routine military action.

Second, based on the one sentence description, we don't know what action was taken other than the Emperor and friends attacked Ophelia VII. It could have equally been a compliance action as an anti-xenos operation. However, as the description didn't warrant more details, it was most likely a routine compliance action, bringing yet another planet back into the Human fold.

*When the Imperial Host descended on Ophelia VII, the Emperor led the assault at the head of 100 Custodians and 10,000 Imperial Fists.
