Just found these frames on my attic - no box, no booklet, no anything with it. (Pictures attached)

Can anybody tell me what kind of verhicle this is? Cause the metal space marine head&shoulders won't tell me.

ps: First post!

Looks like an old whirlwind.

The sprues are from an old plastic rhino and the metal bits are to upgrade it to a whirlwind.

Older edition Rhino. Can't make out the top metal bits (possibly the old whirlwind?)

Thanks for the quick answer, guys! Strange, I never collected them marines ...

Any idea what I should do with it?

Even though it looks different, those're still viable for use. I've got an RT Vindicator that rolls alongside my recent SM Rhino chassis models.

I love the old RT rhinos, if you're in the UK I'd happily take the frames off your hands

You can do all kinds of things with it:
- ebay the frames and mount the whirlwind turret on a modern rhino
- use it as an army centrepiece,
- Magnetise it and buy up some more parts from that era to make a predator/rhino/vindicator/whirlwind
- replace the missile launcher with some comms arrays and use it as a command tank/transport

They go for very reasonable money on eBay...particularly if you have all the metal bits. There is a nice Oldhammer movement. I sold several of the old Rhinos for around $30-35 a piece.

Now that you mention it, I`m indeed currently selling all my 40k Necron stuff. Bought it just a few months ago. Seemed like wish-fulfillment at the moment, but I just don't have the time and calmness. Didn't even unpack most of it.
However, I live in Germany, not the UK. Since that sorts you out as a buyer: Any guess how much that Rhino is worth?

Saw your response just now. Thanks for the estimate!

I just might have to get some Ebay cash and snag a few vintage Rhinos. They look pretty awesome.

The "frames" are called "Sprues".

But as noted, they are for the first iteration of the official Whirlwind model by GW (There was a version pre-this, but it was a kitbash conversion using parts and WD plans).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up!

Monster base Whirlwind FTW.
