Subject: Green atuff circles?

So yesterday I made an attempt at a mark of Slaanesh to put on the end of a staff but failed. The circle was far from perfect and the rest of the mark was a pain too.
My question is how do you make a (near) perfect circle when molding with green stuff?
(Bonus question: should I immediately attempt to drawn patterns on the green stuff or should I wait for it to dry a bit?)

Have you tried press molding?
It's one of the most simple 'casting' techniques ever.

Unfortunetly I am lacking in Slaaneshi marks to create a mold with.

But do you have any circles? Could always just press mold the circle and then sculpt the rest!

Making Stuff
|
Easiest method for making circles:
- Roll a ball of green stuff and press it gently into place.
- Grab something flat (end of a hobby knife, bottle cap, whatever), dip it in water to help it not stick to the putty, and use it to press the ball of putty flat.
- Done.
You can square off the edges if you want to with a sculpting tool.
If you want the middle of the circle to be inset, find a piece of plastic rod the right diameter with a squared-off end and press it into the middle of your circle.
