A project announced by a polish artist and studio. A dieselpunk alternate history with Mechas powered by internal combustion engine...
http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2016-04-11-iron-harvest-1920-everything-we-know

Now the game is still at its early development stage. but here are three factions announced...
1. Saxony Empire: (I guess that it is a) Germany with Saxony as a seat of power, rather than Prussia. there are referrences to the unfavorable armistice peace terms caused civil unrests.
2. Polania Republic: There's no need to guess which country it is... yeh the dev team and an artist came from there... " a large agricultural country with a long history. It is trying to maintain its status and territory, struggling with its aggressive neighbors:". Only postwar Soviet failed invasions is correct.... Poland as this game tried to present has just only earned (regained) its independence (and reunited after the fall of 'The Three Black Eagle Empires' --Germany, Austria-Hungary and Russia).
3. The Russviets: Ruled over by Tsar Nikolaj, (Is this a polish name of Nicholas) and a mystic (and Heretic) Grigori Rasputin as his court advisor (The same Rasputin who tried to puppeteer the entire Russian Royal Family??? ... the REAL Rasputin was assassinated by a group of nobility BEFORE the Great War broke out in 1914)... An 'Industrial Giant' (claimed that its industry is unmatched.... which means even surpassed the Brits and the Americans combined)..... In reality Russia has only began its industrialization... in 1914 they couldn't even have enough rifles to equip their army... they had to import repeating rifles (Especially the Winchester lever action 'musket' and another Winchester early 'self loading' rifles firing .32 ammo). and a large numbers of 2-10-0 'Class Y' steam locomotives from the United States (some engines has never reached Russia before the Revolutionary ousted the Romanovs) and these stranded engines ended up converted for American railroads usages) .... speaking of Revolution. the Rusviets are also in a blink of the popular uprising due to the prolonged war (and how the Tsar mishandleded it).

So not only this is a WW1 with combustion mechas. but also a different world where little Saxony united Germany (and 'The Greater Germany' is pursued-- where Austria joined in) ... Poland exists BEFORE the WW1 (Either they've won the wars in the closing days of 18th century, or survived the Naponeonic Wars without being conquered (mostly by the Russia, both cases the partitions never happened.., Or re-emerged in case that Austria has been merged with the alternate 'Germany').... Saxony has never been known as a military giant, how is this possible? Who is a stateman that elevate this little german Kingdom into a seat that eclipsed both Austria and Prussia or was there a royal 'Personal Union' that made this possible? (In real life Saxony was a vassal to the Austria https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saxony#Saxony_in_the_19th_and_20th_centuries, ) Also on the 'Russviets' ... yes it is a portmanteau of Russia and Soviets but the country has yet to embrace the communist revolution (or on the brink of it). so the term 'Soviet' used in this game seemed to refers to its 'original meaning' and not those coined by the Russian Communist Government....

Nice 'universe creating' venture but from what i've saw (And experiences), only a handful of Dieselpunks are considered a success (C&C Red Alert series... for example), so many of them are a bust (Iron Storm; itself played with alternate WW1 which lasted for 50 years!, Mortyr series, and War Front Turning Point; alternate WW2 with some advanced weaponry included the Mechas and Germany ruled by Military Junta rather than Adolf Hitler), Let's hope this game reaches a completion stage...

Just to add, the board game Scythe (I haven't had a chance to play with my copy yet but it was released last year to very good reviews) is based in the same world.

Yep. The artist is the created the setting for his art. It has then inspired these two games.
