I was recommended to try using a Glossy Varnish? on the glowing parts of my Necrons (weapons, and the crystals on their bases) http://imgur.com/a/HEbFe
However I have no experience in this, whats a gloss i should buy? does GW sell one that would fit my need?
Thanks for the tips!

Hi there! GW does make a gloss, and it's called 'Ardcoat. It's a technical paint I believe. But Army Painter, Vallejo and pretty much every other big manufacturer makes one. Vallejo Gloss works very well for me.
Hope that helps!

GW does sell one, and I do like it for things like gems and power sword blades, but if you planned to do anything more (and it sounds like you don't) then you'd probably want to look for a cheaper alternative.

I also recommend it. The gloss will not only make it very shiny and stand out from the rest of the model but gloss tends to brighten and enhance the colors. It goes a long way in making all my necron orbs, eyes, inside ribs, weapon blades, and energy lines stand out.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Liquitex makes an amazing gloss varnish. The matte varnish they make is incredibly good as well. They both come in nice big bottles available at Michael's and equivalents as well as super cheap on Amazon. I like to coat any minis I'm going to be handling a lot with a coat of gloss varnish then a coat of matte to kill the shine. If you wanted to leave something like your Necron weapons shiny just skip doing a second coat on them. It will protect your paint job from scratched/chipped paint, greasy fingers etc

For spot-varnishing with a hairy brush I quite like GW's Ardcoat, I thin it with Vallejo flow improver if I need to. For airbrushing I like Tamiya's X22 thinned with Gunze's self levelling thinner. Sprays smoothly and forms a nice hard shell after a day or two (which I consider fast for a gloss varnish). It also seems more resistant than other options I've tried.

The best and most hard wearing gloss I have ever used is Future. Super cheap and dries rock solid.
