I'm in a strange place I've been wanting to start my very first wargame army ever, and I finally got the funds to dive in and I think Age of Sigmar's Seraphon are my favorite race I've seen.

So here's my problem I play Silver Tower often with a local youth group, and Hammerfel is on the horizon sooner than I'd thought. I have a budget of $150 so it's quite literally one or the other. I'd also be buying paint if I go with the Seraphon.

I am not familiar with Age of Sigmar very well so not really sure what you are asking for.

Do you own the Silver Tower that you play with the local youth group? If so, then maybe Hammerfel will be a good fit depending how the rules are. You can mix them both I believe. So you can have an Age of Sigmar army as well as 2 boxed games you can mix with. Also if you do own the Silver Tower game what Age of Sigmar army are you going to make from them?

If you don't own the Silver Tower set then not sure what you really want with the Hammerfel boxset. Since you want to start a Sepheron army what is in Hammerfel that you want to start an Age of Sigmar army with?

Sorry not really understanding what army you want since I am still not familiar with all the minis in the game.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Sorry allow me to clarify,

I own silver tower, my questions is should I start my first Lizard man army or use that money to buy Shadows over Hammerfel instead?

FIrst of: it's HAMMERHAL. Hammerfel is in the land of Tamriel, and last time I checked that's not one of the mortal realms.

Second: how many people play AoS in your enviroment? If there's not many, I recommend you begin shadows over HAMMERHAL. You know why? Because then you can make a chaos army. Plenty of the ST and SOH minis are usable for table top so you can make yourself a chaos army if you want to using the acolytes, tzaangors, reavers and blightkings.

I'm not really sure I have a Warhammer store twenty minutes away, and I'm going there with a friend of mine this week to scope it out

It sounds very admirable that you play Silver Tower with your youth group (I am presuming here that you are running the games for other), it also sounds a lot of fun! :-)

If you are running the games for the youth group then the new WHQ will be an excellent toolkit. The inclusion of the Game Master role will natuarlly fit you and the games will never get dull of stale because you can keep adding in more surprises and challenges. You could even slowly build up a Seraphon army at a later date by introducing them as the bad guys in a future campaign.

In the meantime you can combine the choas contents of both WHQ boxes to have a playable Chaos army with which you can play the wargame.

Now, if I have presumed wrongly and it is someone else running Silver Tower for you at your youth group, and you perhaps only own a single hero or no models at all, well in that case I would go for the Seraphon army. Make sure you get the Silver Tower app so you can play with your Seraphon heroes in your youth club Silver Tower games too.

I think if it were me, I'd go check out the local shop you mentioned. If it looks like you'll be able to play AoS some how or other and if it's what you want to do then start your army.
I got my own Silver Tower from Ebay land for half the price of a new one from the shops, including shipping. However, I live an hour forty from my nearest games shop. So it was my most reliable way ...and affordable way to bring it home. I'm just saying waiting wont hurt but you should do which ever you think will be more rewarding. The other thing is you don't have to by your whole army all at once. if that helps your budget.

Good luck.

The rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal.

Remember kids, Games Workshop needs you more than you need them.

Simple, if your group wants to expand, or the kids find out there is more, get Hammerhal. If you have anything left over, grab some Seraphon singles. You can use them in Silver Tower and you will also get to use them in Hammerhal. Win win.

When you feel you have some breathing room, then start yoru Seraphon army with the $85 Start Collecting box, and go from there. No rush, take your time.
