It would be like hitting a dead horse with a stick. Aside from that I'm not sure just some pompous space marine making it to the Golden Throne and shooting the carcass on it. There's gotta be some impressive obstacles set up to hinder such a plan.

But Mr Cypher is going to do it!

I hope he survives the explosion post decapitation!

I think Cypher's story is one of the most interesting in the 40K universe and I am looking forward to seeing how this all goes down.

I don't think Mars will care though.

Yeah I think if anything Mars will be up for a bit of a power-grab and some political maneuvering.

Plus, there's still some ambiguity as to whether they genuinely believe the Emperor is the Omnissiah, or if it's all a bit of a front to keep the Inquisition off their backs while they secretly venerate the C'Tan shard that's imprisoned on Mars...

The Mechanicum novel isn't set in the modern age of 40k line but it does suggests that at least a while back not all of them bought into the mind tricks of the conquering tyrant from Terra.

My guess is:
- those who do believe in this interpretation will not be pleased and might seek revenge.
- those who didn't are finally freed from their oppressor and might try a grab for power.
Both factions will likely be having a hard time accepting the eldar's choice for the leader of men.

Does anyone know if the treaty of mars was signed between the Terra and Mars or if it was a personal pact between the Emperror and those who came from Mars.

It might very well be that Mars will see it as an opportunity to cast off the shackles that bind it to Terra. That would definitely have been the case in 30k. However, a lot can change in 10,000 years. We don't know enough about AdMech attitudes towards the Emperor in 40k to make a good guess.
I doubt the entire AdMech or even just Mars is going to be one-minded on this though. It could very well lead to internal conflict within the AdMech.

It's been said multiple times in Mechanicus codices that there's schisms even between Techpriests of the same Forgeworld, sometimes causing an open war. So I wouldn't be surprised if there would be some heavy consequences after such an act.

The Priesthood of Mars is aware that the Emperor's physical body is dying. They are pragmatic enough to know Mars would be screwed if a Warp Storm eats Earth. Any plan to keep that from happening would likely be agreed with, especially if Cawl is on-board with it and can convince Mars.

No, but He convinced everyone (most) that He is. By categorically denying it to everyone even though He put the shard there to influence invention just so He can do the line "machine heal thyself" line when he came to Mars that one time.

I think Mars will remain.

It has been said that One could not exist without the Other.

The Mechanicus could not live without the Imperium and the Imperium could not live without the Mechanicus.

The reasons that hold this statement are numerous (to put it lightly). There WILL be political fighting, but that is practically the norm as it is.

I think that the Mechanicus will freak out not because the Omnissiah's avatar is dead, but because someone managed to get inside the emperor's throne room and shoot him.
