The idea is to have Karanak go with the Bloodcrushers and Heralds go with the Flesh Hounds and have three units with Scout to pressure early and hopefully give my DP some breathing room. Six Obsec units in the vanilla Bloodletters and CSMs/Rhinos. And the DP Moving up with the scouted units/CSMs in Rhinos to cause havoc.

Here are a few questions I have...

Are there any glaring oversights in this list equipment wise?

Is having Karanak as my CADs HQ a mistake?

Are there enough distractions for my DP, or is my DP enough of a distraction for the rest of my army?

If I understand the rules, I can field both the CAD and AD turn 1 and not have to hold anything in reserves?

If I wanted to, could I hold my Bloodletters in reserve and DS them where I want later?

What would you change unit/equipment wise to make this list stronger?

I've been hobbying 40k for a while now, but I've only played a couple games with my Space Marines. I'm primarily a AoS player (Ironjawz/Khorne Daemons), so 40k rules aren't my strong suit. I know that KDK exist, but don't care to run them because I like the CD Dex and already have it and a CSM Dex laying around, so KDK are 100% out of the question. I'm not looking to be super competitive, mainly just be able to win some friendly games at the LGS every now and then.

Hi dude - welcome to 40k and deamony goodness.

First question - have you read the updated Daemonic Incursion version of Codez Daemons? The stuff from curse of rhe wolfen.
There is a fantastic formation in there called the murder horde which might fit your needs very well.

There is also the update for Codex Chaos Space marines which gives you a lot of cool bonuses - basically chapter tactics for chaos plus new relics/warlord traits and what not.
If you live the blood god then World eaters might be a lot of fun for you.

Regarding your questions.

I don't use Karnack all that much - but he is a little vulnerable as a warlord for my personal liking - however if you take the murder horde he becomes a really fantastic tax aux unit that unlocks some great benefits for your army (-1/+1 to your warp storm roll and a type of super objective secured)

Regarding the Deamon Prince, I think you could probably do with an addition wrecking ball unit. A Khorne lord on Jugger with some Spawn could really be of use here.

Regarding deployment - no problems there, deploy however yoi want

Daemons are super for deep striking in to objectives. Just be aware that a you randomly determine the turn they come in and that can lead to unfortunate situations.

To make your list stronger I'd consider the following

- consider the daemonic Incursion murder horde
-check out the world eaters
-the Black mace could be swapped for some fantastic world eater exclusive weapons (big nasty khorne axes)
-try out a Jugger lord
And finally,
-blood crushers are much worse in 40k than they are in AOS. Their combo of low toughness, multi wound and not much armor makes them really easy to kill through instant death. Making for sad times for you.

The items in red are things I though may be a good idea, but I'm not sure if they're worth it, or right for the unit. I chose to not go with the Murder Horde because I couldn't get the numbers of the list to fit right outside of a MSU configuration. And I didn't really want to run a MSU list. I'd appreciate any input on this updated list. Your first advice was very valuable and I appreciated it greatly.

Aura of Dark Glory give a 5+ invuln save. Your daemon Prince already has a 5+ invuln due to the Daemon rule.. Drop that and spend the points on something else!
