Day 1:
Hey, new here and just getting back into painting Warhammer after like a 5 year break and having only done small model projects like these:
Spoiler:

So after painting those (and falling in love with thousand sons) I decided to start my first big project, Magnus The Red! I have him built and I've been painting him for about 30 minutes before posting this.
Spoiler:

Please note that the wings are detached for magnetization and were only friction fit for photography purposes
Spoiler:

That's all I have for Day 1 of painting, any and all feed back is appreciated seeing as I am new back into painting (and not having been good 5 years ago either )

Day 2:
Finished half of the wing, the other half of it is still primed black XD
Spoiler:

(Sorry about the picture size and quality, in doing this on a time limit so I will have to redo and resize them later)
(Also note that apart from the screamer pink used to base the feathers on the wing, all my paints are at least 5 years old.)

Are you going to do anything with that symbol on the back part of the Thousand Sons tabbard/cape thing? It sort of looks like it needs something to complete the fantastic paint job you have done there. I particularly like your shading on the cloth parts. You managed a beautiful maroon color there.

Thank you, I am tho, all I've done is base coat and wash, (on the cape I layered and highlighted too) but I definitely haven't detailed it yet. Although I'm holding off on finishing Ahriman because I need to get Magnus up to Detail quality for the inner circle even because my TS is the army I'm submitting.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

God I love that Ahriman model, I tried painting him in blue+gold colours but it turned out a bit crap. Nice job though!

Your base colour on the wings is quite nice but it might have been better to highlight with a dry brush rather than directly painting to get a softer colour. Still nice work!

Really like Ahriman in blue! Have been thinking of picking the model up for a Sorceror. But in "modern" 40k Thousand Sons colors.

You only need a brush with stiff bristles (or just any old brush if your carful enough) to do dry brushing. My 'dry brush' is just an old paint brush with stiff bristles.

I know that's all you need, I just don't currently have a brush like that, and my brushes arenkjnda expensive so I don't want to ruin them to make one.

I just made some custom Heavy Weapon Teams(without men) so I'm posting them here since they will be fielded beside my thousand sons
