Hey! I was thinking of adding an allied Deathwatch detachment to my standard Codex space marines force and really liked the idea of a Deathwatch sniper squad. As I recall theres a formation in the Imperial Agents codex thats JUST a Deathwatch veteran squad who get aquila bonuses.

What are your thoughts on Stalker bolters and would a 135 5 man squad of 5 stalker bolters be worth anything in a medium competitive level? I was planning on painting them up as Imperial Fists to match the rest of my army and just fluffing them as tacticals for as a flavor piece.

It makes for excellent objective camping to an extent. After all, if your opponent wants 5 Marines dead, it'll happen.

They have pretty good range 30-36" depending on the ammo you use and get 2 shots each, not sure if they have precision shots but the ignore cover ammo is nice.

I think you may also want them to snipe out annoying enemy support unit with their special issue ammo. Most notably using the Dragon Fire Rounds (the Ignore cover rounds iirc) to snipe out Tyranid Malanthropes, due to being Sniper, it is gonna to wound them by 4+ no matter it is T5 or T6, and forcing it to use its 3+ armor instead of 2+ cover. I think statistically a Squad of 5 can drop that Malanthrope within 2 rounds of shooting.

They're not bad. Unfortunately, they're expensive and pretty fragile, but that can be mitigated by attaching a Terminator or some other tank to the front of the squad - An Inquisitorial Representative with Power or Terminator Armor can tank hits that are S5 or lower pretty easily, for only 33/65 points. (Plus, psychic buffs!)
