Node based campaign system that I'm running in my area this summer. Will be submitting chaos dwarf and bretonnian updates as well, though those are not in the scope of this document which is just the campaign system itself.

Skimming through this now (while at work). So far, I like the house rules you've added to tone down shooting. But with your summoning, so if I am understanding correctly, summoning a "Pure Battleline" unit doesn't cost points, but summoning something else does? For example with my Flesh-Eater Courts, summoning ghouls (battleline with no prerequisite) is free, but summoning Crypt Horrors would cost points? Also a bit confused on your terminology. A "Regular" army is one that doesn't have extra battleline granted by something, just units that are Battleline regardless? Doesn't that hurt some armies like Ironjawz, where everything has to be Ironjawz to be battleline, because they would be Irregular?

I am really liking this but I wonder if the changes to the core rules such as alternate activation and charges would be met with resistance (I can already hear the "But why" cries).

Great work so far, auticus. I haven't finished reading this, but so far this seems like it changes AOS in a positive way. The campaign part itself seems really neat. I like how you incorporated ways to play Silver Tower/Hammerhal too.

Summoning anything is free period, its just harder to do when dealing with the summoning spells.

Abilities that summon only go off on a 4+ as far as abilities that add units.

Abilities that add monsters / characters only go off on a 6+.

A pure-battleline unit is a unit that is always battleline. This should include Ironjawz units so long as you are a pure Ironjawz force.

The items I was targeting were more "this unit becomes battleline if you take lord teabag in your army". Things like Stormfiends being battleline (which busts the game unless your opponent is also busting the game)

I didn't stop that from happening, I merely make it harder to upkeep because an elite army would be more expensive to upkeep.

You bring up a good point though that my intentions are not as clear when it comes to Ironjawz or things that are battleline if you are playing a pure force, so I will make a note to append that, thank you for the feedback.

A regular army is simply one that follows the GHB rules for army creation and that fields the min pure-battleline forces.

Pure-battleline is the key for regular. Irregular (elite) armies do not follow GHB rules for army creation and/or have min battleline requirements but not all are pure (the stormfiend example where someone takes a bunch of stormfiend units that now count as battleline because they have a skryre general but aren't normally battleline)

Any changes to core rules are always met with resistance, but this is not a tournament packet, this is a narrative campaign packet where the focus is on telling a story and the rules changes are made to reflect that.

The result is that my campaign group this summer will shrink from 24 or so players to 6 or 7 but I'm ok with that because I feel tournaments are more the realm of RAW and we can do a touranment like that later in the year.

I love the dungeon delves. Silver Tower and Hammerhal are great add ons, and we did a lot of Silver Tower with Azyr Empires last year and it was a positive thing.

Thanks for the feedback sir. Will make a note on the clarification.

Ah okay, that makes sense. So from a Flesh-Eater Courts perspective, my summoning doesn't require a roll at all (it happens automatically as a Command Ability, not a spell). In your campaign would it require a roll?

Also to make sure I understand the regular/irregular, if I took a Crypt Haunter Courtier as a general to "unlock" Crypt Horrors as Battleline, that would be Irregular, but a "Battleline with X allegiance" army would still be Regular, as long as it's not "X Allegiance AND {character required as general}"?

I am really tempted to pitch this (or a variant thereof using your base adjustments) to some friends who have expressed a desire to do a multiplayer/faction campaign.

Thanks again for your efforts

Yes - your summoning ability would only go off on a 4+ when you try to use it.

To your regular/irregular question - yes you are correct. Battleline with X allegiance is pure-battleline. battleline because you are taking some character or a formation or what have you - not pure-battleline.

Let me know how it goes. Also if you find the Azyr Empires facebook group you can join up on that and post your feedback. The more the merrier

Powerful Pegasus Knight

The rules state that you may only activate a unit twice in a single turn, and many make one retaliation attack, and then a primary attack. I may be using some Pegasus knights which can pile in and attack twice during a turn in which they charge. How will that work given those rule modifications.

Those would override the normal rules and they would get an extra attack activation (same as in normal AOS)

Rules discussion yesterday. We have sixteen players signed up and another nine pending, for a total of twenty-five players.

This will be the second year in a row where the AOS event far eclipses any WHFB event I've ever run, where in our almost-twenty year history we averaged twelve WHFB players at our events.

I wish you all a good time and good luck!
I will try to run a more smaller scale campaing with this ruleset this summer! If everything goes good I'll post here the results and impresions!

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

That's awesome to hear!
Hopefully the experience from running a second massive campaign, can help continue to improve the campaign rules, and lay the foundation for an even bigger campaign next year. I hope you'll post some of your learnings and experiences running it to help others dive into running such a big campaign. :-)

Oh I plan on it. We're doing a monthly "magazine" with stories and battle reports.

Would love to see anyone else's work with it as well.
