Hi Folks,

I've just delved into Warmachine, I'm actually painting models faster than I can play them, which is really fun. Last night, I had my first Battlebox game with my Retribution taking on Khador. It was a bunch of fun, and the guy teaching me laid it all out for me. Helps that I'd read the rules once, but it really helps to see it in action.

I discovered that at my LGS, nearly everyone plays Khador... and something else. I just thought that was strange, especially because if I didn't already have an Imperial Guard 40k army, I probably would have started Khador, myself!

More than anything, learning about the value of positioning, and effects that alter positioning was really interesting. Seeing how different armies interact, learning what stat levels are "good" vs "bad" was neat.

In the end, he was kicking my butt, but "threw it away" by trying to kill my caster with some short ranged spell, that allowed me to combined charge and kill his caster. I'm pretty sure he was just giving me a chance to win my first battle, but it was a really nice gesture from a Vet... although after 20 years of gaming, I had no expectation of winning my first match, and have no problem with losing-learning... but still a really nice gesture.

I was really happy to have met some new, friendly people and I had a great time. Thanks to the Folks at Game Chamber, if you're on here!

Welcome to the game. Sounds like you have a good group to play with.

Welcome to Warmachine/Hordes

Khador is in a strong place which is why you're seeing them a lot.

Khador is a tough nut to crack once more. Between strong
gunlines and scary warjacks, I try to avoid playing them as
often as possible.

Khador was the army everyone played at my FLGS during mk2. Seems like everyone picked up that army not knowing during mk2 it was more infantry based.

Anyways, glad you had a blast on your first game. Welcome to the game

Thanks.

There are about 12 regulars for Friday night, and I'm told 10 of them have a Khador army. I just thought it was neat that I would have started a Khador army as well, if it weren't so infantry heavy. I've painted enough grunts with Lasguns to last a lifetime.

I'm very much looking forward to getting some more games in, and am hoping I can swing my 40k buddies to give it a try. We're all kind of sick of where 40k's at now, so I think it should be pretty easy.
