So I have a bunch of old WFB Orcs and Goblins and I am debating switching them to round bases and giving them some updated paint. I already picked up the Orruk on the Mawcrusha and I'm wondering if the switch is worth it or if I should go Ironjawz and just buy new models.

Try them out for yourself first if you like them before you switch them. General consensus is that the old greenskinz are not as good as the ironjawz or bonesplitterz, but if you already have them, there's not much to lose. If you are mixing up the orruks, the regular orruk warboss makes a better support general so your megaboss on mawkrusha can focus on smashing things.

What do bonesplitterz do that iron jaws don't? I've been debating getting bonesplitterz, as I like the savage look, but I also like iron jaws (though in black, not yellow).

It's definitely worth it. The strongest destruction lists outside of Kunnin Ruk are mixed destruction. By taking regular old Orcs you get access to some great artillery units and other things the newer factions lack and can mix and match in Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz as you like. My only suggestion is if your existing units are 10s, 20s etc to not bother. Old compendium units tend to only be effective if you commit big numbers to them (maxed out unit sizes), otherwise you'll have a very under optimised army that consists of a load of units that can accomplish nothing on the battlefield.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Bonesplitterz shoot a lot of arrows. They are also a high wound count horde army. A pure bonesplitterz army can easily reach 250-300 wounds in a 2000 pt army. They also have their own allegiance abilities, granted the default destruction one is really great, too.

Yes, in my local gaming group, mixed destruction is currently the army to beat. It has mawkrusher, ironfist battalion, kunnin rukk, and double rock lobba or doom divers.

Higher magic count, many of their formations require magical units. They also have actual ranged units within the army, and tend to be cheaper overall for higher number of units on the field.

They can also have plenty of ways of dealing with monsters and their save while low will never be removed.

Unless you want to play a rank and flank like Kings of War with the same models, there is no need to keep them on squares.
