Starting with Skeleton Hordes start collecting box. How many points roughly is this? I'm going to add a necromancer, and another box of skeleton hordes to it. Are there any other good additions to this type of army?

I thought the rules were free? Where can I find updated rules with point values for this army?

Thanks in advance guys!

Points depends on how you build the big guy (Arkhan, Mannfred, Neferata) but I'd say it's around the ballpark of 600-650pts. Now. I'd recommend you stick a bit for open play if you only want to buy that one box for a while. If not, you'd like to buy another box of skelletons and buy the mortarch as either mannfred (you'd sit at 740pts) or Neferata (you'd sit at 720pts) and ask people to play with you at 750pts. At this point, since your only general would be a named character you'd be set for everything, since he/she cannot take artifacts of power or command traits.

GHB covers the points, scenarios, warlord traits and relics for the different armies: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Age-of-Sigmar-Generals-Handbook-ENG this covers points/relics/traits for ALL armies so it's actually a pretty cost effective investment if, like me, you have 2 or more armies.

If I'm getting another mortarch, I should buy a second start collecting box, no?

Is it worth having 10-15 black Knights?

Mortarch is $80, start collecting is $85? And if the model is the same, that $5 for the rest of the stuff in the box seems really worth it. that is if you want two of the big mortarch models. It's cool that they can be built as different ones.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Compare the price for the Start Collecting! Seraphon box with that of a Carnosaur and you'll see why they no longer sell the Carnosaur by itself

Wow. GW really has changed from never discounting anything in a bundle and charging for every little article, dataslate or painting guide to producing so much free content (painting videos, free pdfs of the warscrolls, free war scroll points builder coming on their community site) and actual bundles that give a real discount. To the point where the Seraphon box is basically get 20 other miniatures when you buy a Carnosaur.

As far as rules go, you can get all the Warscrolls in the Age of Sigmar app on your phone or tablet. As said, the Generals Handbook has all the points, and ScrollBuilder.com is fantastic for putting lists together.

I'm in a similar boat as you, Daly. I have two Skeleton Horde boxes.

What I did: I also bought a Start Collecting Malignants set, that comes with 3 Spirit Hosts, 5 Hexwraiths/Black Knights, and and a Mortis Engine/Coven Throne.

You can build the mounted models as whatever you like, but I would recommend buying some of the skeleton horses from a bits site and make your leftover bits into Hexwraiths or Black Knights, whatever you decide. Then you have 20 mounted models for a good price - 10 Black Knights, and 10 Hexwraiths.

The Mortis Engine is a decent thing to have for helping Necromancers cast spells, and it looks fantastic.
