Subject: What could the chaos symbol in the 8th edition trailer be telling us?

This isn't your average 8 pointed star.
For one, the loyalist version has mechanicus imagery and so does this if you look closely at the left eye.
That could mean dark mechanicus.
But even more intriguing I think is the literal eye of horus at the top.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing that particular version of the eye of horus in anything but Sons of horus imagery.
The Black Legion still employs the eye of horus, but never like that iirc. The version abaddon uses is usually more like the one on the skull.
Or am I delusional?

What it tells me the artists liked skulls and eyes. Nothing new here if you ask me.

My interpretation of the above image is that we are going to see the 40k/30k universes come together. Loyalists primarchs vs chaos primarchs. The lore is headed in that direction. Forgeworld is heading in that direction. Really the only thing that needs to happen is an major STC discovery or breakthrough from Cawl and we are there.

I doubt it, but as you said, it really doesn't take much to make that happen. Hell you can just take a 30k army right now and say it was lost in the warp and spat out in 40k, if even just for a single battle.

Wait how is this not already happening. 40k is already Corps emperror worshipping humans vs sane humans. And we know that there are primarchs, and we already have herecy FW stuff as relics what is the thing that is not going to happen ?

Another reason I think it might be possible is Horus's Eye.
I have a Forgeworld catalogue from 2013 where units within are marked with said eye. It states:
"You will notice that some of our model kits featured in the catalogue have a stylized eye logo next to them. This indicates that the model is appropriate for the timeline featured in our Horus Heresy: Betrayal Book."

Huh, that sounds interesting indeed. Could be their way of sneaking in 30k into the new cover.

Boom! Leman Russ Commander

They'll probably find a way of shoehorning in 30k units by way of "they left with their Primarch when he buggered off" or other convoluted excuses such as "trapped in the warp for a Millenia" and "Trazyn had them in his Pokeball and let them out for reasons."

As the Eye of Horus is still connected with the Black Legion I'd say it could be a symbol for Chaos united under Abaddon.

Looks like 8e will kick off with a Ravenguard vs Deathguard campaign/book perhaps supported by mechanicus/dark mechanicus, at least that's what the image shows.

How do you figure raven guard? The laurel wreath seems more indicative of ultramarines to me, or god forbid black templar lol

If they're releasing DG they'll most likely release stuff for their loyalist nemeses as they did for the WE and TS releases. I thought Raven Guard because I believe that they are the closest the DG have to a nemesis, the dark armour is similar to that of the RGs (although tbh it looks a bit green to me but that might just be my colour blindness) and the Corvus patten armour shown was readily used by the RG.
The laurel through me off a bit too but it isn't unheard of for other legions to use the laurel.
This is of course just speculation on my behalf.
