Hi everyone.

I'm looking for some assistance in working out a semi-competative but also fluffy list at 1250 points. I've taken a pretty long break since i've last been into 40k so i'm getting back into grips with it!

I've come up with two lists so far and would really appreciate any advice, feedback and changes that you guys would suggest.


LIST 1:


HQ (180 pts.)

- Captain, Chapter Master, Raven's Fury, Thunderhammer, Auspex. (180 pts.)


Elites (535 pts.)

- Sternguard Veterans : 5 Marines, 5x Combi Melta, Drop Pod. (195 pts.)

- Vanguard Veterans : 10 Marines, Jump Packs, 3x Thunderhammers + 3x Storm Shields, 2x Storm Shields, 2x Melta Bomb. (340 pts.)


Troops (252 pts)

- Scouts : 5 Scouts, Camo Cloaks, 4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher. (84 pts.)

- Scouts : 5 Scouts, Camo Cloaks, 4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher. (84 pts.)

- Scouts : 5 Scouts, Camo Cloaks, 4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher. (84 pts.)

I appreciate that there isn't much of a change between the two lists but it doesn't mean that i'm opposed to changing the lists quite heavily!

On reflection regarding the kind of random point value and lack of knowledge of which missions would be played, i've decided to come up with a 1000 point list-

Iron Hands Chapter Tactics

- Librarian, Force Sword. Psyker level 1 (65 pts.)

Elites (185 pts.)
- Venerable Dreadnought, Assualt cannon, Drop Pod with Deathwind Launcher (185 pts.)

Troops (314 pts.)
- Tactical Squad, 5 Marines, Combi Plasma, Plasma Gun, Razorback With Heavy Bolter (150 pts.) - Librarian goes here.
- Tactical Squad, 6 Marines, Combi Plasma, Plasma Gun, Razorback With Heavy Bolter (164 pts.)


Formation Detatchment

Shadowstrike Kill Team (433 pts.)

Comes to 997 pts in total.

The problem i'm guessing with the above could be the lack of long range anti tank?

All your lists seem pretty decent for normal FLGS play. I’ll agree that the last list looks to be a little shy on AV.

Upgrading the razors to TLLCs would be a quick fix for that. Getting the points could be a little rough. The DW launcher from the pod, or a spare body of two out of squads that have extra might work.

I don’t say this often, but your vanguard vets need more toys. With power weapons being 5ppm, it’s almost criminal to leave them in the armory.
