First off, I'm shocked that I remembered my username and PW for a site I joined in 2005!
I just sold all my old Space Marines, dug out all my old kits (I have quite a few which were in storage for a long time), and started construction on my 3rd Space Marine army. Now I'm confronted with a new edition (even though I know I missed a few), and new marines, and at the same time.
So, I have a couple of burning questions, but only one I'm going to ask right now. Which section of the site would it be most appropriate for me to post the DIY background I've worked up in order to get some feedback?

hmmm. Maybe 40k Background or 40k Army Lists?
General discussion?
I hadn't touched my models for about 7 years, and before that for about 5 years, which means that I have been 'out' of the hobby almost as much as in the hobby!
But you are coming back at the right time.

Welcome back! I'm right there with you. I joined in 2007, and that was nearing the end of my 40k days. Missed 5th-7th edition, but everything I've read about 8th has me super excited.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and advice.
8th has me pretty excited, just bit leery of these new marines...

Hey,
Welcome back to Dakka, I would suggest posting in the P&M forums

I havent played since 5th edition, and that was with my older kids. Now with 8th coming out, my younger children are old enough to play, Im hoping 8th is all it's been hyped up to be. I am so looking forward to it.

Right! That makes sense.
I need to head over there to get some other advise anyhow.

Nice!
It gives me hope that I'll be able to score a couple of games with all these folks coming back.
