A while back I posted a request on how to build the BoP marines, never having played 30k.

Well I've since seen some of the older lists, and taken onboard the "all bolt gun for tactical squad" advice.

Ended up with this lot



More pics in the paint section of the forum, but basically the BoP stuff, to which a MkIII command set and Techmarine (because I like the model) have been added plus some ebay salvage vehicles as quick placeholders.

Enjoyed the models, went together nicely and decent to paint - Tamiya clear red airbrushed over zenith highlighted silver, GW golds, gun metals and whites.

Went with white for gun casings as it matches my CSM and I like the look more than black.

Characters are generally slightly darker than the Troops, which didn't quite work on Ahriman, idea was to make them (and veterans if I do any) stand out a bit more, not sure if its an idea I'll stick with.


Technically game legal, probably rubbish, but unlikely to be used in a game under the current rules so not too bothered.

Just need a second BoP to have enough to make some special weapons squads

Looks great! Good job! You should try and get some games in before 8th drops. The entire game is drastically changing, and Forge World is going to have a hard time adapting the 30K Legions into 8th and still retain their character. At best, we're gonna get a day 1 PDF that's going to be awful for 30K, until FW gets around to re-writing the Red Books to recapture the flavor of each Legion.

You should look into some of the sweet, sweet Sekhmet Terminators, the Khenentai Occult Cabal, and the best looking Contemptor dread, the Osiron. The Thousand Sons really have some of the best looking 30K models.

I love seeing people using RT era vehicles - it's quite simple to strip paint, the only headache i've found is the way the tops snap off the exhausts.

I have nothing to contribute but saying that paint job is great.

Agreed. I love the super metallic color scheme for TS. I'm hoping to emulate this on my own. Great job!
