I don't have a Skitarii codex and have no idea if certain model options are decorative or in-game options. In particular the sensor arrays, and the guy manning the gun from out the hatch. Are they decorative options or do they represent in game upgrades?
Thanks

Generally everything on the frame that looks like a functional piece of hardware might have a counterpart rule or upgrade it can be.

However WYSIWYG only applies to upgrades you bought with points; you're free to put those things on as purely decorative items without being forced to pay the points; just let your opponents know. Most people are more anal about things not represented. I have yet to meet a person who forced you to buy an upgrade just because your model has it modelled on.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I'm from the future. The future of space

Who knows what the datasheet entry will say in a few weeks time, but in the "current" codex, the guy manning the gun from the hatch is a 5 point cognis heavy stubber upgrade.

If you have the icarus array (the anti aircraft gun with the rockets on the side) then you can't take smoke launchers. I don't believe the kit actually comes with smoke launchers though, so that's not an issue you'll stumble into accidentally.

Then there's the mindscanner probe and the cognis manipulator. Parts 8 and/or 80 are for the mindscanner probe. The cognis manipulator is the little drill/clamp arm thing. It's also a pointed upgrade.

It's really impossible to predict which parts will be pointed upgrades in the new version. Probably something similar, but it's totally possible that things change.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Brilliant thanks guys. That's exactly the info I was after. At least I know which bits to leave off for now. I can always glue or magnetise those options later and focus on painting the bulk of the model.
