Stats:

Battle Cannon Heavy d6 S8 AP -2 D d3

Vanquisher Heavy 1 S8 AP -3 D 2d6 take the highest

Assuming the target is T 8 armor 4+

We will assume 3 tanks firing as BS 3+

Battle cannon: 10.5*.66*.5*.825*2=5.7

Vanquisher: 3*.66*.5*4.5=4.4

Is it me or should the vanquisher be S9 at least?

Check on 3+ armor. That's more common.

The battle annon does seem better in basically all situations. I think those are worth spamming.

The gun that does look quite good, if looking for an alternative, is the punisher. In fact a Pasquisher might still be a great option for tearing up infantry.

It looks to me like the basic leman russ will be a seriously solid option all round. I think it comes to 184 points with a stubber on top, a lascannon and a couple of heavy Bolger's. That's pretty reasonable.

It's probably a typo and it should be S9.
That said, that would only make a difference vs. T8 vehicles, which are not very common.
One down side of the current wound system is that S9-10 really matters little, particularly for one-shot weapon.

Bloody Xenos stole all the good ammo to make up for the pain they felt from beast-hunter shells.

They're both mediocre when it comes to damage per point. If you your aim is to destroy vehicles and MCs take the 6 lascannon/missile launcher HWS that you can get for the price of one battlecannon Russ and then bulk up on quad-plasma scions.
