Can an opponent use the counter offensive tactic in between Berserkers attacks since they get to fight twice?

I've been treating it like they get a second activation in the fight phase, so yes. They don't "immediately attack again" like some other units, they get an entirely second fight phase (including pile ins and consolidations).

yea just to agree thats how i read it too.

With the additional pile in ye looking at 6" of manovering... this includes possibly getting ye unit into a second unit! even killing a unit with your first attacks and then 3" it to a second unti and killing them!!!

it wont be long till people catch on and keep their units spread out though.

you can even use some sneaky baiting since a consolidate move has to be towards the nearest enemy you can try and trick your opponent with a chaff unit like some half dead cultists, he kills them all with ease but has to then move to the nearest unit 3" which if you play it right could be a unit of zerks

e.g.

MMMM MMMM
CCCC BBBBB

charge with both units, pick to activate the cultists first and hope they die

MMMM MMMM
...3"...> BBBBB

now that unit has to move 3" towards the zerkers

then activate the zerks kill their unit, move em 3" to the closest e.g. the marines that just had to move closer to them and you might get in CC, boom activate them again... they can't even fight back this phase

EDIT: scrap that you don't 'have' to consolidate, kinda could still work to bait them with the pilein
