Hey guys,

So I moved into a new house a few weeks ago and a week and a half ago I got my new internet in. According to Speed Test, I was maxing out my Downloads at ~115Mbps and my Uploads peaked at ~2.4Mbps. Now here's the thing: Though we understand that we don't have the Uploads to stream at the same time, my roommate and I do want to stream stuff (we're mostly playing Rocket League at the moment) and from our so far limited it is possible to give viewers a stream of decent quality. So I'm curios:

Assuming my PC is up to scratch and that I'm using OBS as the program to stream to Twitch - What are the optimal settings for streaming given my Uploads?

Because I think that I have enough uploads to stream at least the Video at 480p with my limited experience telling me that 720p is possible with minimal problems (if any).

So what are your answers and thoughts?

Cheers

Without knowing the apps or streaming at all, you can use Task Manager to show your actual throughput speeds when streaming.
Ctrl-Shift-Esc is the quick way to get Task Manager up.
Bring up the network speeds graph, and stream.
I wouldn't expect your 2.4 Mbps to be a problem, though, with either 1 nor 2 streams at once.
Don't forget though, the thing you are streaming with probably take bandwidth even without the stream happening. Compare speeds for with and without streams going.

Probably work

Long as you're not hosting any servers yourself, game bandwidth usage shouldn't be a huge concern. At least not usually.

I'm not sure about the streaming bandwidth consumption, though I would have expected it to be a problem at two streams at 720. Maybe compression technology has gotten good enough that it's not an issue.

Something else to keep in mind is that every little thing that you might be doing in the background is going to add to that too. Voice chat? Torrents? And so on.
