Since there are no HQ's for Assassins, what HQ would you guys recommend for an (almost) all Assassins army? Any other unit suggestions to support assassins are also welcome.

If you really, really want to only play Assassins I would recommend Imperial Guard HQ's because they can be as cheap as 20 points each.

Otherwise, Inquisitors are pretty cool and fits lorewise, while deep striking characters (Terminator Armoured ones, Jump Packs etc.) also fits tactically.

I could pick a nice offensive librarian model. Like a Space Wolf Rune Priest, or perhaps a Dark angel Librarian. Maybe Gulliman? He does buff assassins.

Gulliman is a LoW unfortunately. While his boost might sound nice, I think it's bad to be motivated to keep my assassins close to each other to be withing the buff range. If you don't do that, I guess you're overpaying for him.

A librarian sounds nice. Possible with jumppack?

Fluffwise, it'll be gretchin assassins, so I guess anything can go, this is more a tactics related question.

I have done a list with 18 assassins (see the link: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/728942.page), the key is you need enough units so that you can put all but the sniper assassins in reserve, this means you need cheap units and HQ's (unless yuou have less than 18 assassins), therefore I went for Astra Militarum as it also gave me access to some Lascannons fairly cheaply.

Arashen, Segmentum Pacificus

I would go for an inquisitor.

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.

Primaris Psyker from Adeptus Astra Telepathica only 40 points and has access to a Leadership dropping psychic power that can help the Callidus get those mortal wounds in with a neural shredder.

I would go with guard nice cheap hq units.

Couldnt you put the assassins in valkyries?
2 valkyries with ?6? Assassins in each?
Nice 20" grav chute deployment trick move, shoot, assault?

Valkyries can only carry Astra Militarum infantry, so I'm afraid not.

You could though, put an Inquisitor in the Valk, as they have a special rule, Autority of the Inquisition, which allows them to use any Imperium Transport.

I probably wouldn't use a hq in an assassin army , but if I did, Lisa Issadon is quite fitting. Can appear from nowhere with his funky boltgun.
Obviously you'd be paying a lot for buffs that don't work, but meh

Is there any detachment without an HQ requirement? I can't find it.

Auxiliary detachments.
You'll have no cp, but you can manage without.

It is my understanding that you can not get negative command points, so you could only take 3 assassins that way. That's not even close to an army.

The commentary says
"Regardless of how many Auxiliary Support Detachments
you take, you can never start a battle with fewer than 0
Command Points."

Which to me means you can take as many as you want, command points won't go negative.

What does an assassin army even look like exactly? I would have thought once past a certain point it wouldn't be viable?
